Otley is an Historic market town and civil parish in the metropolitan borough of the City of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It is dissected by the pictureque River Wharfe and has a rich history dating back to the medieval period and was historically known for its woolen industry and market held in the centre of town.

Today, Otley is a popular tourist destination known for its picturesque countryside, historic buildings, and vibrant community. It hosts various events throughout the year, including the Otley Folk Festival and the Otley Carnival.

The town is also known for its connection to cycling, as it lies near the route of the Tour de Yorkshire, an annual professional cycling race in Yorkshire. Otley has produced several successful cyclists, including Lizzie Deignan (formerly Armitstead), who has won numerous titles, including the UCI Road World Championships.

There are excellent Primary Schools and the seondary school, Prince Henry's is considered to be one of the best in the area!

There are excellent communications by road to the larger commercial centres of Leeds, Bradford, Harrogate and York as well as the motorway network and the A1. The bus station in the centre of town provides public transport including a link to the railway station in Menston which connects to Leeds, Bradford and Ilkley.
